T20 Blast: Two batsmen retired in the same match, fans remembered Ashwin

Everyone will remember R Ashwin’s retirement at IPL 2022. The same thing was seen at the ongoing T20 Blast in England on Sunday as well. During the game between Nottinghamshire and Birmingham Bears, two batsmen retired. After this the fans remembered Ashwin again. Ashwin retired in a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Batting first, the Birmingham Bears scored 98/5 in eight overs. Coming to bat in the fifth over, Carlos Brathwaite scored 17 runs on 11 balls. However, after the seventh over, Brathwaite decided to retire, after which Sam Hain came to bat. Hein couldn’t face a single ball as Alex Davis played the last four deliveries.

Chasing the target of 99 races, Nottinghamshire’s start was not very special. Fast bowler Olly Stone sent Joe Clarke cheaply to the pavilion. This was followed by a 55-race partnership between Alex Hales and Ben Duckett. In the final over, Nottinghamshire needed 15 runs to win. Samit Patel reached the crease after Dan Christian’s wicket fell.

Patel was only able to score 2 runs on the first two balls of the last over. In such a situation, he also decided to withdraw. When he retired, the team needed 3 runs on 1 ball to win. He decided to retire so that the match could be tied. Calvin Harrison came to bat in place of Patel, although Nottinghamshire lost the game by 1 run.
