Defending champions Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka by four wickets in a thrilling final to retain the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament title when middle order hitter Shah Rukh Khan hit a six on the last ball. Tamil Nadu needed five runs from the last ball against the 152-run goal. In such a situation, Shahrukh sent the ball from left arm fast pitcher Prateek Jain for six runs on the deep square leg. He scored 33 out of 15 balls which included a four and three sixes.

Tamil Nadu won this national T20 tournament for the third time. By the way, this year the Indian Premier League title was also won by the Tamil Nadu team, Chennai Super Kings.

Batting first after losing the draw, Karnataka’s score was 32 of three at one point, but they managed to score 151 of seven in the end. For him, Abhinav Manohar contributed 46 and Praveen Dubey 33, while J Suchit had 18 runs on seven balls.

Left arm spinner R Sai Kishore took three wickets for 12 runs in his four overs for Tamil Nadu. Chasing the target, Tamil Nadu hit very slowly in the middle. Hari Nishant (23 of 12 balls) and N Jagadeesan (42 of 46 balls) added 29 runs for the first wicket. Tamil Nadu hitters struggled to score runs after Nishant’s impeachment.

Captain Vijay Shankar scored 18 runs but played 22 balls to do so. This put pressure on the team and they needed 30 runs in the final two overs. Shahrukh, who specializes in playing long shots, took over from here.
