Sydney Sweeney isn’t just lighting up the screen anymore. The busy actress is now stepping into the fashion world, ready to launch her very own lingerie line. Sources close to the Emmy-nominated star, 27, revealed to a prominent entertainment outlet that this project has been a year in the making.
But it gets even more interesting. Sweeney has some serious financial backing for her new venture. None other than billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez, are reportedly investing. This news might clear up why Sweeney attended Bezos and Sánchez’s star-studded wedding in Venice, Italy, on June 27. Before that event, Sweeney had no known public ties to the power couple.
Separate reports from Puck on July 9 added more details. Ben Schwerin, a partner at the private equity firm Coatue, is also supporting the Euphoria star’s line. Coatue recently kicked off its Innovation Fund with a massive one-billion-dollar injection. That money came from the family offices of Bezos, 61, and fellow magnate Michael Dell.
While Sweeney is best known for her acting roles—think recent box office hits like Anyone But You and Immaculate—she’s also quietly building a business empire. She serves as a global ambassador for several big brands. These include HeyDude for footwear, Bai for drinks, Laneige for skincare, and Kérastase for hair care. She’s even teamed up on product launches with Frankies Bikinis and Dr. Squatch, notably for a unique bathwater soap.
Sweeney seems to thrive on being busy. She once joked to Empire magazine in May, "I function in chaos." She loves having many things going on at once. "I don’t sleep a lot," she added, "but I perform better when I don’t sleep too much."
Her incredible drive comes from a tough childhood. Sweeney has shared stories of her parents going through bankruptcy. This difficult time pushed her to succeed. "I knew I could never fail," she told Glamour last year. "My family, in a very general sense, lost everything. They got divorced. Whether it was because of coming [to Los Angeles] or not, it was definitely a catalyst. So I knew that I had to make it in some way so that it wasn’t in vain."
Today, Sweeney’s hard work has paid off. She has an estimated net worth of 40 million dollars. In 2023, she landed a spot on Forbes‘ coveted 30 Under 30 list. Even with all her success, Sweeney feels like she’s just getting started. "It’s a weird feeling when people say, ‘Oh, you’re successful’ or ‘You made it,’" she reflected in her Glamour interview. "I don’t feel that way because there’s so much more I want to accomplish and conquer. I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I would like to do in life."
