The Polish Iga Switek, number one in the world, got a place in the semifinals of the WTA 1,000 in Rome on Friday after beating the Canadian Bianca Vanessa Andreescu in two sets, 7-6 (2) and 6-0.

Swiatek does not forgive in Rome. The favorite to conquer the Italian capital did not let the revelation of the women’s draw continue on her way, an Andreescu who greatly complicated the first set for the Polish but could not stop her in the second.

The first sleeve was more than even. Andreescu, who eliminated the Spanish Nuria Párrizas, resisted conceding the ‘break’ on two occasions and had the possibility of achieving it on one, but equality led to the tie-break. Swiatek couldn’t find any cracks in the Canadian wall, but played better on the key points of the tie-break, breaking his opponent’s serve twice.

The second set had no color, it was a different game. Swiatek was an earthquake in the ‘Grand Stand Arena’ of the Foro Italico and did not give his rival a chance, who had no choice but to assume the role of extra and fit the 6-0 that leaves him out of a tournament in the who had achieved the feat of, being the 90th in the world, reaching the quarterfinals.

Now in the semifinals, Swiatek will face the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, in what will be a duel at the top between two of the best tennis players on the circuit.
