Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried lit up New York City for the premiere of The Housemaid. The stars brought holiday cheer with their stunning red carpet looks.
The duo posed for cameras on Tuesday, December 2, walking the red carpet on Seventh Avenue in New York City. They celebrated the upcoming thriller’s launch. Co-stars Michele Morrone and Brandon Sklenar also attended the event.
Sweeney, 28, sparkled in a custom Miu Miu silver dress. It featured a plunging neckline and shimmer, paired with a feather boa. The actress completed her classic Hollywood glam look with long, curled blonde extensions.
Seyfried, 40, chose a pink Versace by Dario Vitale gown. She set a trend with her voluminous jewelry. Seyfried also wore her long, curly blonde hair for the occasion.
Sweeney plays Millie in The Housemaid. The film is based on Freida McFadden’s book of the same name. It arrives in theaters on Friday, December 19. Seyfried portrays Nina, a wealthy woman who hires Millie as a domestic employee.
After moving into the house, Millie quickly discovers that things are not as they appear. The Winchester family’s seemingly perfect home hides dark secrets.

During the premiere’s red carpet, Sweeney spoke about the importance of empathy for her characters. This applies even if she disagrees with their choices. Millie’s character, for example, will engage in "morally questionable" actions in the film.
Sweeney told Variety, "It’s complex, but that’s where the vulnerability of that person is found." She added, "It is our job to uncover each of the layers of a person, whether we believe in them, whether we agree or not."
Sweeney also highlighted the close relationship she developed with Seyfried on set.
"Amanda and I became sisters. She was the best friend in the world," Sweeney shared with Variety. She emphasized the positive impact of their bond on their performances.
The film’s cast and crew, including the book’s author, have suggested the movie improves upon the novel. Sweeney explained the benefits of working on an adaptation versus an original script, even with changes.
"It’s great because I get more data," she said. "I have a more complete vision of the world. I can draw inspiration from different sources, like the book, which helps me further shape the character in that universe."
After the red carpet, The Housemaid cast took the stage before the film’s screening. They were presented with a cake. Videos showed Seyfried being given a large knife.
She and Sweeney held hands as they cut the center of the cake, then shared a hug.
The Housemaid will be released in theaters later this month.
