Swanson hits a pair of homers, Braves beat Giants 7-6

Dansby Swanson hit a pair of home runs and the Atlanta Braves built a big early lead before holding off the San Francisco Giants, winning 7-6 Thursday for their 18th win in 21 games this month.

Swason, whose home run sparked the three-run ninth-inning rally in a 4-3 win over the Giants the night before, had three hits and three RBIs.

Swanson started the bottom of the first inning with a home run and also struck it out in the fourth, his 12th of the season, for a 7-1 lead.

The reigning World Series champions put themselves 11 games over .500 for the first time this season. They have won 10 of their last 11 home games, outscoring their opponents 60-33, with 24 home runs to 10 of their opponents.

San Francisco, which grounded four into double plays in the first four innings, has lost four of five.

Atlanta starter Kyle Wright (8-4) allowed 10 hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 5-2; and Thairo Estrada 3-1, one scored and one RBI.

For the Braves, Venezuelans Orlando Arcia 3-1, one scored; and William Contreras 4-0. The Dominican Marcell Ozuna 2-0, an RBI.
