The dispute centers on Bower’s upcoming release, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, scheduled for publication on March 26. The Sussexes’ response directly targets recently published extracts that detail severe internal fractures within the British monarchy leading up to the couple’s 2020 relocation to California. According to the couple’s statement, Bower has made a career of constructing elaborate theories about individuals he has never met.
Extracts from the biography allege a deep level of animosity between the Sussexes and senior royals. The forthcoming biography claims Queen Camilla expressed private doubts to a friend, allegedly stating that the Duchess of Sussex had brainwashed her husband. Bower cites dismissed Canadian executives who labeled the 2025 event the “Meghan Games,” claiming her presence served as a distraction from the injured veterans.
