A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the shooting at Durazno Hospital. Police have arrested one of the individuals involved and seized a weapon.
The police are still searching for a second person implicated in the case, according to Alexis Duarte, deputy chief of the Durazno Police.
Details about the role of the detained individual in Tuesday’s incident, in which a patient was shot, have not been released by the police.
Following a meeting with ASSE authorities, Martín Pereira of the Federation of Public Health Officials announced that police are now present at the hospital 24/7. The security company has also increased its staff to monitor the hospital’s internal circulation.
