Suryakumar Yadav can snatch the No.1 crown from Babar Azam, there may be a change in this Asian Cup

Pakistan starter and captain Babar Azam has been at the top of the international T20 batsman rankings for a long time. But now his place is in danger. He is receiving stiff competition from Team India’s heavy hitter, Suryakumar Yadav. It is possible that during the 2022 Asia Cup, Suryakumar could snatch the No. 1 T20 batsman crown from Babar Azam.

Babar Azam is still the best batsman in the international T20 ranking with 818 points. Here his teammate Mohammad Rizwan (796) is in second place and Suryakumar Yadav (792) is third. That is, there is a gap of only 24 points between Babur and Surya. It’s a very small gap, which can be bridged in two or three good innings.

The India team will play three matches at the Super-4 stage in the 2022 Asia Cup. After this, if they reach the final, Suryakumar will also have a chance to play the fourth match. If Surya plays two or three solid innings in these four games, he will become the No. 1 hitter in T20. Of course, this will also require that Babar and Rizwan cannot do much better in this tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav made his T20 International debut in March 2021 last year. Since then he has played 25 matches. In these T20 International matches, 758 runs have been scored with the help of six half centuries and one century. During this, his batting average was 39.89 and his strike rate was 177.51. In the last match of the Asian Cup, he played a fast inning of 68 runs on 26 balls.
