Michael Cyril Creighton has offered an early tease for the upcoming fifth season finale of ‘Only Murders in the Building’. He described the concluding episode as “surprising, satisfying, and crazy.”
The actor, who portrays Howard Morris on the popular Hulu series, added that “a lot is going to happen.” The season wraps up on Tuesday, October 28.
Season 5 has focused on the Arconia residents Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin). They are investigating the death of building doorman Lester.
The trio soon discovered a second victim, Nicky (Bobby Cannavale).
The penultimate episode revealed that Lester killed Nicky with an elevator crank. This act stemmed from Nicky’s plans to convert the building into a casino.
However, the central mystery of Lester’s own killer remains unsolved. Further complications include a stolen finger and scooter marks on the ground.
Howard Morris made a crucial breakthrough, identifying the marks as coming from a motorized scooter. This led to suspicion falling on Nicky’s mother, Nonna (Elizabeth D’Onofrio).
Creighton celebrated his character’s moment. “For Howard to feel useful and have his own triumph at the end was great. It was wonderful,” he stated.
He expressed enthusiasm for Howard’s newfound utility. “It’s very exciting that he’s useful and helpful,” Creighton noted.
Looking ahead, Creighton hopes for more for Howard. “I want to see him win more,” he shared regarding a potential next season.
Creighton also envisioned a spin-off series for his character. In this concept, Howard would travel globally with his dog, solving mysteries.
The actor suggested the original trio might make guest appearances. While initially conceived as animated, Creighton expressed interest in starring if it involved international travel.
He concluded, “Fingers crossed that’s the case in the coming years.”
