Surprise: RED Canids Disbands VALORANT Roster After VCT Ascension Exit

Brazilian esports organization RED Canids has disbanded its entire VALORANT roster following a series of defeats that saw the team eliminated from a key promotional tournament.

The organization made the announcement on its X (formerly Twitter) account on October 23. In its statement, RED Canids said, “Today we say goodbye to our VALORANT lineup. We thank you for all the moments, dedication, and achievements we had together. Good luck on everyone’s journey.”

This move follows the squad’s poor performance in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Ascension Americas play-in. The VCT Ascension tournament is designed to promote top Tier 2 teams into the VCT Americas league. RED Canids finished in last place, failing to advance.

The team’s final competitive showing saw them lose crucial matches. They were defeated by Six Karma Esports, losing two maps with scores of 13-7 on Haven and 13-7 on Abyss.

Their subsequent series against Winthrop University also ended in a loss, with scores of 13-6 on Corrode, 6-13 on Abyss, and 13-10 on Lotus.

The disbanded roster included Yann “maestr0” Erick, Wallacy “prozin” Sales, Matheus “RgLM” Rodigoli, Leandro “frz” Gomes, and in-game leader Gabriel “gaabxx” Carli. The team’s coach was identified as DRAGziKW.
