Elizabeth Gutiérrez’s journey on “La Isla: Desafío Extremo” concluded unexpectedly early. The Mexican model and actress was eliminated from the demanding reality show after a nomination and a challenging equilibrium test.
A member of the Panteras team, Gutiérrez recently faced the harsh conditions of Playa Baja. She struggled in a challenge where nominated contestants had to balance on a small platform with three iron tubes. The 46-year-old lost her balance and was forced to step down.
Her elimination was immediate upon touching the ground, a moment that resonated with her teammates. Host Héctor Suárez Gomis announced, “Elizabeth, tonight ‘La Isla’ marks your name on the list of exiles.”
The remaining nominees of the week embraced Gutiérrez as she stepped off the platform.
Expressing her emotions, Gutiérrez described the experience as “very tough, of emotions, of getting to know myself, of challenging myself, of finding out my own limits and of working as a team.” She also stated that she met “wonderful people” during her time on the show.
She found great satisfaction in “being here and being able to see that I am capable of doing different things, that I might never have dared to do.” Gutiérrez hoped her time on “La Isla” would be remembered for her resilience. She noted that the hardest part was “not being able to talk to my children.”
Before this competition, Gutiérrez had limited experience in reality television. She participated in “Protagonistas de novela” in 2003 and “Mira quién baila” in 2011.
After two weeks, the Tiburones team remains the only group with all its original members. The currently active teams are Tiburones (José María, Helen, Ximena, Fernanda, Martín, Rodrigo), Panteras (Christian, Gary, Estefanía, Nievelis, Roberto), and Águilas (Mauricio, Julieta, Jason, Moi, Paulina). Zoraida Gómez and Elizabeth Gutiérrez are the two contestants eliminated so far.
The show’s weekly schedule includes Elimination Mondays, Survival Tuesdays, Punishment Wednesdays, Nomination Thursdays, Revenge Fridays, and Power Sundays. Victories in challenges grant captaincies, immunities, and other rewards. Eliminations are determined by participant votes, and the final three contestants face a last challenge to crown the champion.
The ultimate prize for the winner of “La Isla: Desafío Extremo” is USD $200,000.
“La Isla: Desafío Extremo” airs Monday through Friday and Sunday at 7 PM ET/6 PM CT on Telemundo. Episodes are also available simultaneously on the official Telemundo app and the Peacock streaming service.
