Surne Bilbao plays for the first time in Bosnia, the 17th country they visit

Surne Bilbao Basket will play this Wednesday for the first time in Bosnia, the seventeenth country that the Basque team visits in continental competitions, in the match that will face Igokea corresponding to the third day of the Champions League group stage. The ‘men in black’ will face the Bosnian team starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Laktasi pavilion in the city of Aleksandrovac, near the northern border with Croatia.

Throughout its ten appearances in European competitions -one in the Euroleague, seven in the Eurocup and two in the Champions League-, in which it has played 127 games since 2008, the country that the Basque team has visited the most, eleven times, has been Germany. There, Bilbao Basket has faced Brose Basket, Oldenburg, Ulm and Alba Berlin twice and Artland Dragons, Bonn and Bayern Munich once.

Below are the six trips to Russia and Italy. In the first they faced CSKA Moscow twice and once against Spartak Saint Petersburg, Nizhni Novgorod, Khimki and Lokomotiv Kuban and in the transalpine country against Treviso.Cantú, Siena, Dinamo Sassari, Trento and Bologna. In addition, the Bilbao team has also played four times in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France and Turkey; three in Serbia, Lithuania and Greece; two in Montenegro and Ukraine; and one in Bulgaria, Latvia, Croatia and Slovenia.

The Biscayan club also made three trips to the final stages of the Eurocup. They were the Final Eight in Turin in 2009, the Final Four in Vitoria in 2010 and the single-leg final in 2013 in the Belgian city of Charleroi. Bilbao Basket has also faced rivals from the ACB five times in Europe, specifically Baskonia, Real Madrid and Unicaja in the Euroleague and Valencia and Fuenlabrada in the Eurocup.
