Suriya Opens Up About Brother Karthi: I Can Never Be Like Him

Tamil actor Suriya is riding high on the success of his latest release, ‘Retro’. Although the film has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, Suriya has been making headlines for his candid comments about his brother, fellow Tamil actor Karthi. In a recent chat with Karthik Subbaraj and Santosh Narayanan, Suriya opened up about how he can’t quite match up to his sibling’s acting chops.

A Different Acting Style

Suriya said, “I don’t consider myself a great actor. Sometimes my acting feels like overacting. I’ll never be able to pull off what Karthi does. I couldn’t make a film like ‘Meiyazhagan’.” ‘Meiyazhagan’ is one of Karthi’s most successful movies, and Suriya’s comment highlights the different paths the two brothers have taken in their acting careers.

‘Retro’ Struggles at the Box Office

‘Retro’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, hit theaters on May 1 and raked in 43 crore in its first four days. However, the film’s box office performance has been underwhelming. The romantic action flick stars Suriya alongside Pooja Hegde.

Karthi’s Upcoming Projects

Meanwhile, Karthi is generating buzz with his cameo in Nani’s Telugu film ‘Hit: The Third Case’. The cameo sets him up as the lead actor for the fourth installment of the ‘Hit’ franchise, helmed by Sesh Kolu. Fans are also eagerly awaiting Karthi’s spy-action thriller ‘Sardar 2’, which has been generating excitement since its official announcement.
