Supreme Court Seeks Karnataka Response On Thug Life Release

Kamal Haasan’s film “Thug Life” is stuck in a controversy. The Supreme Court has asked the Karnataka government to respond to a petition seeking security for the film’s release in the state.

The petition, filed by M Mahesh Reddy, challenges the ban on the film’s release in Karnataka. Reddy argues that despite getting a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, the state government has allegedly blocked the film’s release.

No official ban or FIR has been issued in this regard, the petition claims. The court will hear the case next Tuesday.

The controversy began when Kamal Haasan made a statement about the Kannada language, saying it originated from Tamil. This sparked a debate, and the issue eventually reached the Supreme Court.

“Thug Life” was released in theaters across the country on June 5 in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. However, it has not been released in Karnataka due to the ongoing controversy.

The petitioner has also requested that the court direct the authorities, including the police, to ensure the film’s safe release in all theaters and multiplexes in Karnataka.

The Supreme Court’s decision to seek a response from the Karnataka government has brought attention to the issue, and the fate of “Thug Life” in the state remains uncertain.
