Superstar Rajinikanth to be Honored at IFFI 2025 for 50-Year Cinema Legacy

Superstar Rajinikanth will be honored at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The acclaimed actor is being recognized for completing 50 years in the film industry. His significant contributions to Indian cinema will be celebrated during the festival’s closing ceremony.

IFFI 2025 will take place in Goa from November 20 to November 28. The event will screen over 240 films from 81 countries. Organizers received 2,314 film submissions from 127 nations for this year’s festival.

This edition of IFFI will feature 13 world premieres, four international premieres, and 46 Asian premieres. The opening film will be “The Blue Trail,” directed by Brazilian filmmaker Gabriel Mascaro. Japan has been designated as the focus country for the festival.

The festival will also pay tribute to several iconic filmmakers and artists. These include Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, P. Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika, and Salil Chowdhury.

Many celebrated personalities from Indian and international cinema will conduct masterclasses. The list includes Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Aamir Khan, Anupam Kher, Bobby Deol, and Suhasini Maniratnam. Pete Draper, Sreekar Prasad, and Christopher Charles Corbold are also among the acclaimed artists hosting sessions.

Films that have won awards at major global festivals will also be screened. These include selections from Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and Locarno.

Rajinikanth’s career spans both South Indian and Bollywood productions. He was last seen in the film ‘Coolie,’ which also featured actor Aamir Khan. The superstar is next set to appear in ‘Jailer 2’.
