Supermassive Games’ Blade Runner Project Allegedly Cancelled After Reaching Pre-Production Stage

A new report from Insider-Gaming claims that a Blade Runner game developed by Supermassive Games has been quietly canceled.

The game, titled ‘Blade Runner: Time To Live,’ was an action-adventure game focused on storytelling and cinematic presentation. Players would have experienced a 10-12 hour narrative, with combat, stealth, investigation, and character interactions.

Supermassive Games began pre-production in September 2024, with a core team comprised of staff who previously worked on The Quarry. The initial budget was $45 million, with an additional $9 million allocated for casting and talent. This amount does not include marketing, translation, testing, or potential DLC development costs.

The game was planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and next-gen consoles in September 2027. However, the project was canceled before any official announcement.

License Issues May Be to Blame

Sources believe that Alcon Entertainment, the holder of the Blade Runner license, may have been involved in the game’s cancellation. The cancellation is thought to have occurred before 2025.
