He talks about it quite a bit, even mentioning it during a press conference for his new superhero movie reboot.
Gunn’s enthusiasm for Balatro isn’t just talk. In an interview with IGN, he described the game as “really great.” He added, “First of all, I like poker, and I like card things. It’s really fun.” His appreciation for card games clearly makes Balatro a perfect fit for his downtime. Perhaps he knows some tricks many other players haven’t discovered yet.
Last month, Gunn even shared a screenshot of an amazing score he achieved in the game. He hit over one billion points in a single hand while traveling from Manila to Brazil. He proudly displayed the special items he collected during that impressive game session. It shows how deeply he dives into the game, even with a demanding schedule.
Gunn admitted that most of his free moments are spent playing video games, especially Balatro. If he isn’t working, reading, or getting some sleep, he’s likely enjoying a few rounds. He even joked that he should probably set aside some time to have dinner with his film cast.
