Sunny Deol announces Jaat 2 despite Jaat’s poor box office performance.

Sunny Deol has announced the sequel to his latest action film, just a week after its release. The movie, titled “Ghatta 2,” will be directed by Gopichand Malineni, who helmed the first installment. The news comes as a surprise, given that the original film hasn’t exactly set the box office ablaze.

The Original Film’s Performance

“Ghatta” hit theaters on April 10 and has since collected a modest ₹9.50 crore in India and ₹13 crore worldwide. The film’s first-week numbers were ₹57.5 crore in India and around ₹76 crore globally. Despite its underwhelming box office performance, the makers seem confident that the sequel will do better.

The original film boasts an impressive cast, including Randeep Hooda as the villain, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, and Jagapathi Babu. While critics were divided, audiences praised the action sequences and the performances of Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda.

Sequel Announcement

Sunny Deol shared the news on Instagram, posting a poster for “Ghatta 2” with the caption “#Ghatta on a new mission! #Ghatta2.” The post confirmed that Gopichand Malineni will return as director, and the film will be backed by producers Naveen Yerneni, Ravishankar Yarlaga, and T.G. Vishwa Prasad, along with the Mathri Movie Makers team. The cast for the sequel has not been announced yet, aside from Sunny Deol’s return.

The industry is now waiting with bated breath to see if “Ghatta 2” can replicate the success of other action franchises. Only time will tell if Sunny Deol’s latest venture will strike gold at the box office.
