Sunita Rajwar is a talented Indian actress who has won hearts with her versatile performances. Born in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, Sunita grew up in a simple family. Her father was a truck driver, a profession she initially felt embarrassed about but later took pride in.
Sunita’s journey in acting began after she completed her training at the National School of Drama (NSD) in 1997. She started her career with small roles, often playing stereotypical characters like a maid. For nearly 20 years, she struggled with typecasting, feeling disheartened to the point where she took a three-year break from acting. During this time, she even worked as a manager for designer Masaba.
However, Sunita’s career took a significant turn with the web series Panchayat and Gullak. Her portrayal of Kranti Devi in Panchayat, the wife of Bhushan alias Banrakas, earned her widespread acclaim. Kranti Devi is a strong, intelligent, and witty character who plays an active role in the village politics alongside her husband. The chemistry between her character and others, especially Manju Devi (played by Neena Gupta) and the village head, added a thrilling dimension to the series.
Apart from Panchayat, Sunita has appeared in films like Kedarnath, Stree, and Bala, as well as TV serials such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and CID. Her performance in the film Ek Chalis Ki Last Local was critically appreciated, earning her a nomination for the Max Stardust Award in 2008. Recently, her film Santosh was nominated for the Oscars 2025 in the foreign language category, giving her international recognition.
