Sunil Gavaskar now expressed his dissatisfaction with Rohit Sharma’s statement, he surrounded the selectors and the BCCI as well.

Rohit Sharma had to face a lot of criticism as captain after the Indian team’s loss against Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. After stepping down as captain to Virat Kohli, Rohit became the new captain across all three Team India formats. Everyone hoped that he could end the ICC trophy drought, but Rohit has not been able to do so so far. At the same time, the former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, in one of his statements, has attacked him and the team’s management.

Sunil Gavaskar said during an interview to Indian Express that he had high hopes for Rohit. India is different but performing well abroad just proves that you are better. His performance here let us down. Even despite having the best players and a lot of T20 experience, the Indian team failed to reach the T20 World Cup final. This is very disappointing.

In his statement, Sunil Gavaskar further said that questions should have been asked of Rohit and manager Rahul Dravid after the WTC loss: why did you decide to field first after winning the toss? Didn’t you know about Travis Head’s weakness for short balls? Despite this, when he has scored more than 80 runs, then you use bouncing balls. Whereas when it came to hitting, Ricky Ponting was constantly saying that bouncing balls should be used against him. Everybody knew it, but we didn’t.

Rohit Sharma had said after the WTC loss that the team had a little less time to prepare for this match. Gavaskar also criticized him for this statement, saying that what kind of preparation are we talking about? You must be serious when you talk like that. You yourself should have come 15 days ago and played practice matches. The main players can rest, but the reserve or other players can come onto the field. But it doesn’t happen at all.
