Suero, Castillo y Bonds conducen a los Soles

The trilogy made up of the natives Gerardo Suero and Anyeuri Castillo, and the American Tim Bonds, gave Soles de Santo Domingo Este 99-94 victory over Cañeros del Este on Friday night, in the match they played at the Simón sports center Orozco, from the housing sector.

Suero led the offense with 22 points, while Castillo managed to score 21 points and Bonds had 21 touchdowns and six assists, to be the best in the Soles offense.

It was the first local match for the Soles squad, which also meant their first win so far in the regular series in the 2022 tournament of the National Basketball League (LNB).

Their record was set at 1-1, like the defeated Cañeros de La Romana, in the Southeast Circuit.

The best for the losers were Yeison Colomé with 23 points, the American Will Daniels with 17 baskets and Jonathan Araújo with 16 and eight rebounds.

Soles shot 18-31 from the field for 58 percent and from 3-point range he went 15-30 for 50 percent. The free throws of 24-18 for 75 percent.

Soles started the first quarter with a 10-0 rally with 8:15 left, after five points from Gerardo Suero, a three-point shot from Jonathan Holton and two from Tevin Glass. Cañeros scored, with 7:54 on the board, his first two points by Jonathan Araújo, two free throws.

The second period was won by the Soles 27-26, although the first half went against them 49-46, with 10 for Suero and another 10 for Bonds, and nine by Anyeuri Castillo.

In the third quarter, with 2:24 remaining, Soles took a 71-67 lead on a three-pointer by Bonds. They closed the third 78-73, favoring them by eight points 32-24.
