A single point secured on the field often hides a mountain of struggle off it. Georgiy Sudakov, a vital force in Ukraine’s midfield, showed he is not one to quit. Even after a challenging 1-1 draw in Azerbaijan, a result that complicated their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes, his message was clear. “Until the end,” he vowed on his Instagram page. He shared a series of pictures from the game, one showing him proudly wearing the Ukrainian flag over his shoulders. It was a strong promise, proving his spirit remains unbroken.

This unwavering commitment comes after a period of immense personal hardship. Just recently, Sudakov’s family home in Ukraine suffered a bombing during a Russian attack. His pregnant wife, young child, and mother were all inside the residence at the time. Despite facing such a terrifying ordeal, Sudakov bravely insisted on playing for his country.
He truly became a standout player in the match, scoring the only goal for the team led by coach Serhiy Rebrov. His performance shone brightly against a difficult background. Goalkeeper Trubin, another key player, also started the game. Sudakov is now getting ready to join his new club, Benfica. He expects to play his first minutes for them soon, possibly against Santa Clara next Friday.
