Stuttgart has extended its impressive winning streak to five matches in Germany’s top football league, climbing to third place in the Bundesliga standings.
This ascent follows a 2-1 comeback victory over struggling Mainz 05, which concluded the eighth round of the league schedule.
Mainz initially took the lead with a penalty kick converted by Nadiem Amiri in the 41st minute.
Stuttgart’s Chris Fuhrich then leveled the score just before halftime, finding the net in the fourth minute of injury time.
The decisive goal came in the 80th minute from Deniz Undav, securing the home side’s dramatic turnaround.
The result places Stuttgart third in the Bundesliga table with 18 points.
They trail second-placed RB Leipzig by a single point, who have 19 points, and league leaders Bayern Munich, who maintain a perfect record of eight wins and 24 points.
Mainz, in contrast, remains in a precarious 16th position with only four points from eight matches.
Portuguese forward Tiago Tomás also featured for Stuttgart during the match, entering the game before Undav’s winning goal.
