Strong security around the courthouse in Washington where Trump will appear

Caracas.- Around the courthouse in Washington DC, where former President Donald Trump will be summoned at 4:00 p.m. (20:00 GMT) to read out the charges against him for allegedly attempting to reverse the result of the 2020 presidential election , strict security measures have been taken.

A security fence has been erected around E. Barrett Prettyman Court, the seat of the District of Columbia Federal Court hearing the ex-President’s case, EFE has verified. From the building you can see the Capitol, about 500 meters away.

Law enforcement has set up metal barriers to prevent entry to the building, which only employees and authorized individuals can access after passing through two security arches.

A crowd of journalists, some with mobile devices for broadcasting via satellite, are near the court outside the protected area.

There is a heavy police patrol presence, officers with dogs and trucks have been deployed to prevent general traffic in the area, where there are onlookers taking pictures with mobile phones.

Some supporters of the former president have approached near the court. Three men in a sedan with a license plate that reads “TRUMP DC” circle the building and honk their horns.

“Trump won the election,” shouts one of them in the front seat.

His partner in the background wears a mask with the former president’s face and affirms that he came from New York to “witness history”.

“I came to see it with my own eyes instead of seeing it through the fake media. I hope Trump rises in the polls today thanks to his impeachment,” he says in the car to the dozens of reporters who approach and take photos.

The former president, currently the most popular Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, is scheduled to read the charges against him this Thursday before Judge Moxila Upadhyaya of the District Court of Columbia, where Washington is based.
