Story hits three home runs, Rodriguez homers

Trevor Story had three home runs, four hits and seven RBIs as the Boston Red Sox overturned a four-run deficit and beat the Seattle Mariners 12-6 on Thursday.

Story hit a pair of two-run homers and one more three-run shot. That last home run came in the eighth inning.

He also had a go-ahead single in the sixth inning, helped by a wild throw. In his first season of a six-year, $140 million deal, Story had hit just two homers in 32 games before Thursday.

Jackie Bradley Jr. added an RBI double that smashed the ball into the “Green Monster,” and Boston scored nine unanswered runs for its fifth victory in its last seven games.

Tanner Houck (3-3) pitched four scoreless innings of relief for Boston after Seattle punished starter Rich Hill for the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead.

The loss went to rookie George Kirby (0-1).

For the Mariners, the Dominican Julio Rodríguez 5-3 with a home run, a run scored and an RBI. The Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez 5-2 with two runs scored, Luis Torrens 4-1.

For the Red Sox, Puerto Ricans Kiké Hernández 4-0, Christian Vázquez 4-1 with an RBI. The Dominican Rafael Devers 5-1. Mexican Alex Verdugo 5-3 with four runs scored.
