Various studies have shown that the Casa Rosada should not advance the omnibus law on environmental issues.
The results of various tests are based on Argentine opinions on the reforms proposed by the national government of La Libertad Avanza.
Attention now turns to the monthly consultation on political satisfaction and public opinion organized by the University of San Andrés.
The work was carried out with more than a thousand people over 18 years old connected to the Internet in eight regions of Argentina: NOA, NEA, Cuyo, Central Region, Patagonia, Buenos Aires Province, CABA and GBA.
The review uncovers some of the most controversial aspects of the Necessity and Urgency Regulation and the Omnibus Law in relation to environmental issues.
Overall, 51% of respondents disagreed with the DNU and 42% said they agreed with it.
The mega-decree measures that received the most praise were:
- includes electronic prescriptions (72%)
- generic prescription, with option to choose laboratory (68%)
However, one of the regulations that could cause the most controversy is the repeal of the Land Act (68%). The anger was so great that the national executive decided to withdraw consideration of the initiative.
In the meantime for the bill “Bases and starting points for the freedom of Argentines“, a total of 38% agreed and 41% were against.
The specific points that found the greatest acceptance were:
- Simplify divorce proceedings (61%)
- Allow universities to charge non-resident foreigners fees for education (60%).
- Elimination of STEP (50%)
The omnibus law and environmental aspects
However, when measuring dissatisfaction, the issue of environmental protection emerged again: only 7% agreed with the release of the exclusive economic zone in the Argentine Sea. The issue was quickly withdrawn from parliamentary debate after strong complaints from Patagonia’s governors.
Protecting the sea and protecting forests and wetlands, which are often burned for real estate, remain very important in the minds of Argentine voters.
