Smith said before the game: “Coach has asked me to play at my own pace. He says I have to play and I don’t give a damn. Coach says if you want to try to get a six on the first or second ball, then you should do it.

As well as Steve Smith, starter David Warner has also been included in the 11 players for the first T20 match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. While hosting the ICC T20 World Cup, Australia echoed the ideas that saw them win the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates late last year. He opted to go with three fast pitchers in the series.

While Ashton Agar and Kane Richardson have had a chance in the first game. Pat Cummins, coming off injury, will be available for the ODI series. At the same time, Adam Zampa is the key player missing from the playing XI, which won the World Cup last year by defeating New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates.
