Stephen Curry and Under Armour: pioneering agreement in the sport

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Currya four-time NBA winner, has signed a pioneering agreement with the American multinational sports equipment Under Armor for which he will participate in the development of basketball products and, among others, golf and his ‘Stephen Curry’ collection.

Under Armor and Stephen Curry have extended a long-term relationship dating back to 2013 “to serve athletes and communities and drive mutual success for years to come”indicates Under Armor in a statement.

Building on the success and achievements of the past decade, both parties will continue to drive product solutions and innovation, impact communities around the world, and grow Under Armor and the ‘Curry Brand’ together.

The four-time NBA champion is the ultimate expression of Under Armor and its namesake Curry brand, bringing an expanded vision and shared mission to empower athletes and define how they show up on and off the court.

We are excited to continue building together, bringing even more innovation and inspiration to athletes around the world.”said Kevin Plank, Under Armour’s chief executive and chief brand officer.

Stephen Curry’s new role as president of Curry Brand will enhance his ability to drive athlete ideas, product development, and strategic marketing and business efforts.

Since 2013, he has helped drive launches of industry-leading signatures and Under Armor product technologies such as UA Charged, UA HOVR, UA Warp and UA Flow.

In this next phase of the partnership, Under Armor and Curry will elevate this commitment across new and existing categories – from basketball to golf, women’s, youth and sports styleoffering product solutions that help athletes perform at the highest level.

Stephen Curry will also take on a broad advisory role where his sphere of impact will reinforce brand love, recruiting and present opportunities across categories to reach and expand Under Armour’s roster of athletes.

Ten years collaborating

Under Armor and Stephen Curry have launched ten signature shoes together in the decade since the partnership began, each with a unique design that recalls memorable moments throughout his career and rise in the NBA.

With the release of the Curry Flow 10 last fall, Curry became the ninth athlete in history, and the first from Under Armour, to release ten different signature shoes within its lineup.

In 2020, Stephen Curry and Under Armor introduced UA Flow, the best-in-class cushioning technology that has helped take their signature shoe – and their game – to the next level.

The partnership also includes increasing funding for community impact efforts, creating opportunity, access and equity for the next generation of athletes.

In little more than two years later, Under Armour, Stephen and Curry Brand have already renovated ten courts, trained 2,500 coaches, supported 77 programs and impacted more than 72,000 young athletes, with the goal of renovating 20 safe places to play, train 15,000 coaches and support 125 programs to influence 100,000 young people by 2025.
