Stars mourn the death of “La Esperanza Verde”

Las Estrellas lamented the death of one of their most enthusiastic and faithful supporters, the tenth known by the pseudonym “La Esperanza Verde”, Doña Bienvenida Mateo de Moquete.

The nonagenarian lady was the mother of the outstanding athletes General (r) PN Marcelino (Remy) Moquete and Colonel Jacobo Moquete. She was also the wife of General (r) PN Marcelino Mateo Almonte.

For more than 60 years, Doña Bienvenida delighted the lovers of professional baseball in the Dominican Republic with her tenths, in the radio program Amalgama de Colores en la Pelota, in which she praised the team of her sympathies, the Stars, and he expressed his thoughts in an elegant and often picaresque way, when the defeat touched that team.

His sense of good taste was expressed in beautiful metaphors, in which he combined with unsurpassed grace his fondness for baseball and the Stars, and his pleasant enjoyment of life.

The directors of the Stars expressed their condolences to the relatives of “La Esperanza Verde”, as well as to her legion of enthusiastic admirers of the proverbial talent of the distinguished lady, Doña Bienvenida Mateo de Moquete, who was able to enjoy seeing the Stars win in 1954, 1968 and 2019.
