Stars extend Tatis’ contract for three more years

The Stars will reward their manager Fernando Tatis with a three-year extension, equivalent to three seasons, in his contract, starting with the next professional baseball campaign in the country, announced the president of the club, engineer Miguel Feris.

“We are satisfied with the work that Tatis has done as a manager, having led us to the conquest of a championship and then to the Final Series in the last two seasons,” Feris said, through a press release from the Stars.

“We believe that this meritorious work should be recognized on our part, rewarding her with a long-term contract, by the standards of Dominican professional baseball,” explained Feris.

“For this reason, we have agreed to this three-year extension, in which we are sure that Tatis will continue to do a good job for the Stars and in which we aspire to win the championship,” said the main manager of the professional baseball team based in San Pedro de Macoris

The 2023-2024 season will be the fifth for Tatis, as manager of the Stars. In his first (2018-2019) he led the team to win the championship for the first time in 51 years. In the last two seasons he has taken it to the Final Series.

“Tatis brings great leadership to our team, not only among the veteran players, but also among the young players who are coming up,” said the general manager of the All-Stars, Manny Garcia, who indicated that the club has achieved good results with Tatis, as manager.

“This is a results game. Tatis has brought two finals to the table, in the last two years. Also the championship, after 51 years without the team winning, ”he said.

“The presence of Fernando Tatis in that clubhouse is of great value to us,” added García, who is making his debut as general manager of the All-Stars this year.

García pointed out that he and Tatis have a good relationship, which grew in the season in which the Stars won their most recent championship (2018-2019), with Tatis as manager and García as pitching coach.

A season before that, Tatis was bench coach and Garcia was bullpen coach.

García observed that currently he and Tatis maintain fluid communication, in the process of structuring the team for next season, both following the same line of action.

The next season of the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic will begin in October 2023. Its schedule is yet to be announced.
