Bethesda’s long-awaited space role-playing game “Starfield” has been available for download since Tuesday. Many players immediately jumped into the title’s world of 1,000 planets. Now, however, reports of sudden crashes are piling up. The only remedy in these cases is to restart the computer. The cause of the game crashes in “Starfield” may be the CPU installed in the computer.
Ryzen CPUs in focus
Although some owners of Intel processors complain about sudden crashes, the majority of those affected have installed a Ryzen CPU. Specific moments in the game, such as getting Barret’s watch or speaking to certain NPCs, will cause the PC to hang. Unfortunately, the crashes are reproducible – the next time you try to start the call, the computer crashes again.

AMD as exclusive partner
This is particularly annoying since AMD is the exclusive partner of Starfield. We’ve worked hand-in-hand to optimize the game as much as possible on both the Xbox Series X/S and 7000-series CPUs and GPUs.
Waiting for a patch
So far, Bethesda support has recommended temporarily disabling all non-Microsoft programs. Third-party antivirus programs should also be disabled. Only the Steam client, which is necessary to use the game, should remain active. A new patch for “Starfield” should probably bring a real remedy. When this will appear, however, remains unclear.
Great interest as a space epic
Basically, “Starfield” exceeded Bethesda’s expectations: Just a few days after the start of sales, there were over a million players across the supported platforms PC and Xbox Series X/S. Compared to other Bethesda games like “Fallout” or “The Elder Scrolls”, “Starfield” seems relatively flawless. It’s all the more annoying that such a crashing problem now spoils the fun of “Starfield” for so many players.
