The Star Wars: Battlefront 2 player base on Steam just hit an all-time high. Around 12,384 people played the game at the same time, the most since it came out in 2017.
What’s behind the surge?
It’s partly thanks to the recent finale of the Andor series. People are still buzzing about it. Muhannad Ben Amor, the actor who plays Wilmon, even posted on Instagram about how much he loves Battlefront 2. He’s played it for over 469 hours and wants a sequel. “Star Wars needs Battlefront 3 now,” he said.
Amor’s not alone. Fans are calling for a new Battlefront game. But it might be a while. The game’s developer, DICE, is currently working on a new Battlefield game.
Before the Andor series ended, Battlefront 2 had around 2,000 players on Steam. Then, the numbers shot up. If you add in players from other platforms, the total is likely much higher.
A long wait ahead
Don’t hold your breath for Battlefront 3 just yet. DICE is focused on the new Battlefield game. We might not hear any news about a new Star Wars shooter for a while.
