Among the new burst of series Star Wars after The Book of Boba Fettwe will find the expected show Kenobi on Disney+ as well as two other projects. It will be a spin-off on Cassian Andorone of the protagonists of the film 2016’s Rogue One and a female series led by Leslye Headlandof which little is known at present.
Regarding Cassian Andor, the pre-production of the series had started during the year 2020, just before the first global confinement linked to the covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the filming had taken its course and the project continued to be teased on social networks. The series headed by Tony Gilroy will bring back Diego Luna as the rebel spy Cassian Andorwho will follow his training five years before the events related in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. If the plot remains quite mysterious, the show will run for at least two seasons. In a recent interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheterthe comedian Stellan Skarsgard – who joined the cast in a mystery role -, confirmed that the studio does not intend to stop on a mini-series:
“We start with Dune 2 in July. Then, in the fall, it will be the second season of the Star Wars Andor series. I don’t know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time, so that there is not too much time between season 1 and season 2.”
A surprising move considering the first season hasn’t even sold out a trailer of any kind yet. lucasfilm and disney seem to have enough confidence in the sympathy capital of the universe RogueOne and the character ofAndor to build a long project around them. The rest of the cast ofAndor will understand Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Forest Whitaker in the skin of Saw Gerrera and Genevieve O’Reilly in that of My Mothma. The release of season 1 is still a mystery but could happen during the summer of 2022.
