Star Players Ruled Out of Champions Trophy

India’s recent 1-3 defeat in the 5-match Test series in Australia has brought attention to the country’s team selection process, particularly with regards to its top batsmen. Previously, it was stated that star players including Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli would participate in the upcoming round of Ranji Trophy. However, recent updates have clarified that Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will not take part in the tournament.

Recently, Delhi confirmed its team for the next round of Ranji Trophy, including the names of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. However, it has now come to light that Virat Kohli will not participate in the tournament, and KL Rahul will also be absent due to injury.

Reasons behind Kohli and KL’s Absence from Ranji Trophy

According to recent reports, Virat Kohli has been experiencing neck pain and received an injection on January 8, just three days after the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. As a result, Kohli has informed the BCCI medical staff that he is still in pain and will not be able to participate in Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot. On the other hand, KL Rahul is dealing with an elbow injury, which will keep him out of Karnataka’s match against Punjab in Bengaluru.

Future Opportunities for Kohli and KL

Although both players will miss the upcoming round of Ranji Trophy, they still have a chance to participate in the final round of the group stage, which starts on January 30. However, the timing of these matches coincides with the ODI series against England starting on February 6, and it remains to be seen whether they will ultimately take part in the tournament.
