The Titan Desert Morocco gets serious, the dunes and the desert arrive. This Tuesday the marathon stage will start, without a doubt the queen for its length and variety in the terrain. Participants will not be able to count on external mechanical or personal help at the end of the stage, on Wednesday. Of course, pedal to pedal. This Tuesday the first sector of the marathon stage will be covered, starting at Knob and arriving at Fezzou. In total, 132 kilometers will be traveled and there will be a difference in level of +1,110 meters. The goal is to get out intact and the Looser couple, Konny and Vera, are the ones who will wear, and try to defend, the leaders’ jersey in the male and female categories.
This Tuesday’s route will begin with a twisty section on the outskirts of Nkob to enter a mountain sector that accumulates unevenness in a few kilometres. The track is little traveled and stony until reaching one in very good condition and heading east will take the Titans towards the desert. In the intermediate part, we skirt Ouaouglout to return to tracks typical of this competition. A stretch of 10 paved kilometers will lead to the final part that will once again be a little more stony before reaching a camp where they will spend a night of coexistence and self-sufficiency.
Among the peloton there is a desire to live the marathon stage and it is, without a doubt, one of the hallmarks of the Titan Desert Morocco. The objective of this challenge is to put the participants on an equal footing, putting those runners with more resources on the same level with those who have more modest external support. The Marathon stage will take place over two stages and, in this case, it will begin in stage 3 and end at the end of stage 4. The organization will limit to the maximum the external help that a participant can receive, between the end of one stage and the beginning of the next. For practical purposes, cyclists may not receive any external help, neither mechanical nor personal, or any other assistance. Thus, the tuning of their bicycles, repairs, adjustments, etc… will fall on oneself. Also, at the start of stage 3, Each participant must take with him everything he deems necessary to spend the night in a group haima, in which all the participants will be, and the equipment to make the set-up of their bicycle, to face the stage of the following day. The organization will only provide the runners with flip flops and a towel for personal hygiene.
