Sri Lanka won the series beating Bangladesh by 10 wickets, Chandimal-Matthews did wonders

Fast bowler Asitha Fernando (6/51) helped Sri Lanka beat hosts Bangladesh by 10 wickets on day five of the second Test on Friday to win the two-leg series 1-0. An excellent partnership between Angelo Mathews (145 not out) and Dinesh Chandimal (124) on the final day of the match helped Sri Lanka take a sizeable lead before their players delivered a lethal blow to cut Bangladesh to 34/4.

On Friday, Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan fought hard for the return of the team, both scoring half a century to tie the match. But their partnership of 103 runs was broken by Asitha, and she quickly sent them both to the pavilion, leaving Bangladesh with 169, losing both the match and the series.

Bowling brilliantly, Asitha Fernando took 6/51 wickets, completely destroying Bangladesh’s middle order. Following this, the hosts lost their last five wickets by 13 runs, their second innings ending at 169. Thus Sri Lanka achieved the target of 29 runs. Oshada Fernando played a 21-run inning on nine balls to help Sri Lanka win by 10 wickets. Asitha remained Sri Lanka’s best bowler, as he scored 6/51 in the second innings and 4/93 in the first inning, completing his first 10-wicket match (10/141) in his fifth Test.
