In the second game of the 2023 Asian Cup, the Sri Lankan team defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in spectacular fashion. Amazing performance by the Sri Lankan bowlers. Mahesh Tikshna and Matisha Pathirana showed a wonderful game. Because of those two points, Bangladesh couldn’t get a big score and the whole team had to complete 164 runs. In this game, the Sri Lankan team set two major records.

Sri Lanka has defeated Afghanistan twice, Netherlands twice, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Bangladesh in the last 11 ODIs. Prior to Sri Lanka, Australia beat opposing sides in ten consecutive ODIs between 2009 and 2010. In third place is Pakistan, who did so in nine games between 1999 and 2000.

Sri Lanka has won eleven consecutive ODIs for the first time in cricket history. Sri Lanka had won ten consecutive ODIs in 2004. The Sri Lankan players put on a brilliant performance against Bangladesh. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first, which turned out to be wrong. With the exception of Nazmul Hasan Shanto, no player could play a big inning for Bangladesh. Mahesh Tikshna and Matisha Pathirana bowled brilliantly for Sri Lanka. Pathirana took 4 wickets for 32 runs. At the same time, Tikshna got two wickets. Bangladesh gave Sri Lanka a target of 165 runs to win, which the Sri Lankan team easily achieved by losing 5 wickets.
