Nitish Kumar Reddy’s recent struggles are a stark contrast to his impressive Test series performance against Australia. In the current IPL season, he has so far managed only 152 runs in 9 innings, with not a single half-century to his name. Interestingly, his father, Muttyala Reddy, has become the talk of the town due to a viral video showing him working out in a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey.
The Father-Son Paradox
This peculiar situation has sparked reactions on social media, with many taken aback by the father’s apparent allegiance to RCB, despite Nitish being a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and having been retained by them for a whopping ₹6 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The video of Muttyala Reddy in an RCB jersey has left fans amused.

Nitish and SRH’s Struggles
Nitish made his IPL debut with SRH in 2023. However, the team hasn’t seen much success. In the previous season, he scored 303 runs, but his current season has been underwhelming. SRH is on the brink of elimination from IPL 2025. Their upcoming match against Gujarat Titans on May 2 is a must-win.
SRH currently sits 9th on the points table with 3 wins in 9 matches.
