The Andhra Cricket Association has made a formal offer to the Sunrisers Hyderabad to consider Visakhapatnam as their new home ground. According to media reports, the association has given SRH an open offer to play their remaining matches in Visakhapatnam in IPL 2025. The SRH franchise has also been promised a concession.
This offer comes at a time when there were reports of a disagreement between the Hyderabad Cricket Association and the Sunrisers Hyderabad team over ticketing issues. The SRH management had alleged that the Hyderabad Cricket Association was harassing them over free tickets, prompting the team to threaten to change their home ground.
Investigation Ordered
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the Andhra Cricket Association, led by Kavya Maran, has offered SRH the option to change their home ground. Notably, the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam is also the second home ground for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. Two matches have been played at this stadium so far, with a good turnout of spectators for the Delhi vs Lucknow and Delhi vs Hyderabad matches.
Potential Loss for SRH
The Andhra Cricket Association has recently carried out new work at the Visakhapatnam stadium, including renovations to the toilets and corporate boxes. The Vijag stadium currently has a seating capacity of 28,000, which could result in a loss of Rs 3 crore per IPL match for the SRH team. To offset this, the Andhra Cricket Association is willing to offer SRH a concession of Rs 1 crore in SGST tax.
