Spotify Stations was “born” in 2018 and basically offered a radio station-based experience. Now it has been announced that this service will end on May 16. Subscribers have already been alerted by email that the service was going to end, both in its mobile and web versions.

Remember that Spotify Stations offered a different interface than the conventional Spotify service. In the Stations app, instead of the music library and artists/bands, the user was presented with a list of radio stations.

In the email sent to subscribers, Spotify guarantees that users will be able to continue enjoying their favorite radio stations that will be transferred to the conventional service.

It should be noted that as of today, the Spotify Stations mobile app is no longer available in app stores for download. However, versions of this app that are already installed on mobile devices will continue to work.

Spotify has not made any clarification about this closure on its pages. However, when asked by 9to5Google, he replied that “we routinely test to create better listening experiences for our users. Some of these tests are for user experience and some of these tests function as a learning experience. Spotify Sations was one of these.” tests”. .

In Spotify’s subjective response to that outlet, it’s unclear if Spotify Stations ever made it through the testing phase, and since some of this service goes into the common interface, we also don’t know if it worked just as a learning experience.
