Spotify’s Android application is experiencing widespread crashing and freezing issues specifically when connected to Wi-Fi, a problem the company has acknowledged but for which it has not yet provided a timeline for a fix.
Users, primarily on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices, have reported that the music streaming app becomes virtually unusable, freezing or crashing multiple times within minutes. These reports began emerging approximately two weeks ago on Spotify’s official forums.
The critical flaw appears only when a device is linked to certain Wi-Fi networks. The application functions normally and without interruption when users switch to mobile data.
Spotify has confirmed that its engineers are actively investigating the problem. However, the company has not indicated when a software patch or resolution might be available.

Some affected users may need to avoid using the Spotify app on Wi-Fi until a solution is released.
While the issue is not universal across all Android devices, its prevalence among Samsung and Google Pixel users suggests a potential link to specific hardware or software configurations. Speculation among users includes a possible connection to Chromecast-compatible devices, which could explain the Wi-Fi-only nature of the crashes.
