Sports transfers to the UASD facilities excluded from the Superintendence of Insurance

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) has signed this Thursday an agreement with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) through which it transfers to that state academy the physical plant and the operations of what was the recreational club of the Superintendence of Insurance, an area of ​​more than 70,000 square meters that includes multiple sports facilities.

The students of that university and the community that lives around the club will be among the great beneficiaries.

The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, who represented the Miderec and the rector of the UASD, Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, signed the agreement in a room of the administrative building of the house of high studies, and in which they highlighted the purpose of the president of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to materialize that agreement.

“Today we are making history (Ministry of) Sports and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and it will not be the first time we are going to be together,” said Camacho.

The first paragraph of the agreement reflects that the Miderec “agrees to assign and transfer” to the UASD “the physical plant, the functioning and operations of the Club of the Superintendency of Insurance in order to create sports academies for the community and the school of physical education of the UASD”.

Miderec will also provide technical advice to maximize the quality of university sports and the technical level of the Tony Barreiro Games, whose 41st edition is currently being held.

The club is located in the surroundings of Batey Bienvenido, Hato Nuevo, Manoguayabo, Santo Domingo Oeste municipality, Santo Domingo province, and has a 1,980-square-meter clubhouse, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a softball stadium, swimming pool, children’s play area, several gazebos and ample parking.

Camacho and Beltrán recognized the receptivity of President Abinader, which accelerated the possibility of the agreement.

The club’s land was under the responsibility of Miderec, on instructions from the ruler.

The Miderec also agrees to provide the UASD with “the different sports infrastructures in the country, especially the facilities of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the La Barranquita Sports Complex in the Santiago de los Caballeros province and the Sports Complex in the Santa Cruz province. of Barahona, with the purpose of operating the teaching practice centers of the physical education career, prior coordination with the sports federations”.
