Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita has publicly revealed an ongoing personal struggle and self-doubt, despite his club Sporting securing a recent victory.
Morita used social media Sunday to share an enigmatic message, disclosing he is “fighting with myself” and “questioning myself every day.”
The midfielder’s candid comments come amid a period where he has seen reduced playing time, not featuring as a regular starter for coach Rui Borges in recent matches. He has participated in 14 games this season.

Morita’s post followed Sporting’s 2-1 away victory over Santa Clara in the Azores on Saturday.
He noted that returning to the Azores, where his European journey began, and playing against his former club, Santa Clara, was “a very special opportunity for me in this personally difficult phase.”
Morita also expressed gratitude to the fans. “Even playing away from home, I am very grateful for all the support from the Sporting fans who pushed us from start to finish. It was a difficult game, but we achieved our goal and returned to Lisbon with three very important points,” he wrote.
“Yesterday I felt your affection and support at all times. Thank you very much. I will continue to give my best and strive to make you happy,” Morita concluded.
