The air at Alcochete is buzzing with fresh energy. While Sporting’s senior teams have been training for over a week, a new chapter just began for their promising young talents. This week, the U19 and U17 squads officially kicked off their seasons.

Like their older counterparts, the initial days were all about getting back into shape. Young players went through a series of physical tests. But it wasn’t just about sweat and sprints. The teams also sat down with their coaches. These talks focused on setting clear goals for the coming season.

Mauro Miguel, the head coach for the U19 squad, shared his view with Sporting TV. He said that a season isn’t won in the final month. Success is built from the very first day. He stressed the importance of growing both as individuals and as a team. This growth, he believes, should lead to victories. For Miguel, the focus is always on player development. The team’s performance, he added, will naturally reflect this progress.

Meanwhile, Pedro Pontes, who coaches the U17 team, was very positive about his group. He felt they came back feeling “refreshed.” Pontes noted a “renewed energy” among the players, ready to tackle the new season ahead. These young athletes are now on a long journey. Every test, every lesson, and every practice matters as they chase their dreams.
