There’s a simple truth floating around the youth league pitches these days: Sporting’s U17 team only knows how to win. They’ve done it again, marking their fourth victory in as many games. This time, Farense felt the full force of their talent, falling 3-0.

Coach Pedro Pontes clearly sent his players out with a fire in their bellies. They pressed hard from the first whistle. Farense found it tough to even get the ball out of their own half. Sporting’s opening goal felt almost inevitable, arriving just four minutes in. José Lino had the easy job, tapping the ball home. He just had to be in the right place after Duarte Tomás set him up beautifully from the left wing. Lino nearly doubled his tally later, even after Farense tried to push back a little.
The break didn’t slow Sporting down one bit. They kicked off the second half with the same drive. It didn’t take long for them to grab a second goal. Leonardo Varela threaded a pass to Duarte Tomás. Tomás then unleashed a cracking half-volley that found the net. Farense certainly tried to be more daring, but their efforts rarely troubled Sporting’s defense. The game was truly sealed when Leonardo Varela rose highest. His powerful header ensured the final score would be 3-0. This young Sporting side keeps proving they are a force to be reckoned with.
