A prominent fan movement for Portuguese football club Sporting Clube de Portugal has clarified its undecided strategic position for the upcoming 2026 club elections, emphasizing it is considering three distinct paths rather than committing to a single candidate.
The “Hoje e Sempre Sporting” (MHSS) group stated it is weighing presenting its own candidate from within the movement, offering support to an external list, or maintaining a “very vigilant” equidistant stance.
This statement follows earlier media reports suggesting MHSS would definitively put forward a candidate for the club’s leadership elections, which are anticipated around March 2026.
MHSS is represented by spokespersons Afonso Pinto Coelho and Vitor Afonso, both managers, along with lawyer Roberto Carvalho.
The movement describes itself as an aggregating force, regularly engaging with a broad base of members and other affiliated groups.
MHSS actively consults with members and groups ahead of elections, a practice it also followed prior to the 2022 leadership contest.
During the 2022 election cycle, MHSS opted for neutrality despite receiving invitations to integrate two of the three competing candidate lists.
For internal organizational reasons, official communiques from MHSS are signed by its founding members.
