The United States has unveiled its 21-player roster for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Qatar from November 3-27, 2025, featuring internationally-based talents like Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper William Lodmell.
Lodmell, a member of Sporting’s junior squad, is joined by other notable players who have developed outside the U.S. system. These include Cavan Sullivan, who is already signed with Manchester City, and Mathis Albert from Borussia Dortmund.
Lodmell and Albert are the only two players on the U.S. roster currently playing for clubs outside of the United States.
Lodmell has not yet featured for Sporting’s junior team this season. He previously played 13 matches for the club’s youth team during the last season.
The U.S. team is aiming for a stronger performance in 2025. They were eliminated in the Round of 16 at the 2023 tournament.
The United States has been drawn into Group I, where they will face Burkina Faso, Tajikistan, and the Czech Republic.
Portugal will also participate in the tournament, competing in Group B against Japan, Morocco, and New Caledonia.
