Sporting is known for developing its own talent. Sometimes, the best way for young players to grow is to step away, then return stronger. That is exactly the story for Bruno Maior and Pedro Santos. After a season spent on loan at Leões de Porto Salvo, these two Portuguese international players are back. They have earned their spots in the main squad, led by coach Nuno Dias. It’s a clear sign that Sporting is investing in its own youth.
Bruno Maior, a 21-year-old defender, couldn’t hide his happiness. He always dreamed of joining the senior team. “When I first came to Sporting, I said my goal was to play with the big team,” Maior told the club’s media. “Today, that dream is real. It’s because of all my hard work.” He feels good about this step, but he knows the job isn’t done. “Being happy isn’t enough,” he added. “Now, I need to work even harder. I want to secure my place and help Sporting win titles. That’s what we aim for.”
His time on loan really helped him improve. He grew as a player, and it paved the way for his return to the Alvalade stadium. “I know what I do on and off the field,” Maior said. “I’m getting better, but I have to push myself more. Our goals are different now. I have to keep going and give my all. I want to help Sporting CP win every competition we can.”
Pedro Santos, a 20-year-old forward, also shared his pride. He secured his place in the squad after a strong season. Last year, he scored ten goals in 34 games. He felt he had completed his mission both as an individual and with his team. They reached all the goals they set.
“I am always proud to be part of a truly top club,” Santos stated. “Last season, I felt I had done my job. We achieved what we set out to do, both personally and as a team. Luckily, I am here again this year.” He feels ready for the challenges ahead. He said the team’s goal for the new season is “to win everything, as always.” Santos also promised to give his absolute best on the field. “I want to give my maximum effort,” he stressed. “I will never quit on any play. I want to score many goals and create many chances. Most importantly, I want us to win every single game.”
