Sporting Fined Over $6,000 for Fan Misconduct at Portuguese Cup Match

Lisbon’s Sporting Clube de Portugal has been ordered to pay over 6,200 USD in fines by Portuguese football authorities following multiple instances of fan misconduct during a recent cup match.

The Portuguese Football Federation’s (FPF) Disciplinary Council levied a total of 6,279 USD (5,814 euros) against the prominent club. The penalties stem from the behavior of Sporting supporters in the visiting stands during a Portuguese Cup match against Paços de Ferreira.

The most substantial fine, 2,754 USD, was imposed for the “dangerous throwing of an object” during the official game. This incident did not result in any reported impact.

Another 2,203 USD fine was issued for the “throwing of firecrackers.” This contributed significantly to the overall sanctions.

A third penalty of 1,322 USD was for a “firecracker explosion outside the stadium.” Unidentified visiting fans were responsible during their entry to the venue.

Following the match, one fan affiliated with the visiting team was arrested outside the stadium. The individual faced charges of resistance and coercion against officials.

The Disciplinary Council published the sanctions on Friday, detailing the penalties from the third elimination round of the Portuguese Cup.
